March

Hi, Everyone!

Its been a while since i last posted. As some of you may know our computer crased last month. We lost everything. Sadly, we lost several pictures and video from the past two years. I backed up some photos but not all. We have since subscribed to an online backup service. I know we have family members who are smarter than me who have actually backed up their files. But there may be one or two of you out there who think it can't happen to you. It can. This isn't a scare tactic just my sincere hope that no one posting on this blog ever has to go through loosing all your stuff. We are subscribing to carbonite.com but I'm sure there are other options out there. Maybe some of our more tech savy members can recommend stuff in an e-mail.

Anyway, onward we go. here is the first batch of backed up, downloaded pics. Thanks to Mom, Dad, Nat and Sheryl for their visit! We miss you.

#1 Billboard Songs on the Date of Your Birth

I thought it'd be fun to look up what the #1 Billboard song was on everyone's birthday.

Dad - "I've Heard that Song Before" by Harry James.
Mom - "Near You" by Francis Craig
Amber - "Angie" by the Rolling Stones, which might seem bad, but you just missed Gladys Knight and the Pips.
Natalie - "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas, maybe that explains the turbo kick.
Zach - "Evergreen" by Barbara Streisand, and you just missed Dancing Queen by Abba.
Cara - "Kiss on My List" by Daryl Hall and John Oats, which neither Sean or I have ever heard before.
Sean - "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor, which is good considering most of the year is dominated by Ebony & Ivory.
Lauren - "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, which I think is the coolest of all.
Sheryl - "You Keep Me Hanging On" by Kim Wilde, which is sad because the week before was U2's "With or Without You."

Anyhow, Sean & I thought those were pretty funny. If you want to look up any others, we got them from wikipedia here.

Memphis

Hey, Everyone,
Just wanted to post some pictures of our recent trip to Memphis, TN. Much fun was had and we visited some pretty cool places. We took a tour of the Gibson guitar factory and saw how the guitars are made. We went to the Civil Rights Museum which has been built in and around the Lorraine Motel where Dr. King was assassinated. Very inspiring. We also went to the Memphis zoo. We both agreed that it wasn't quite as good as the St. Louis Zoo but it was still very impressive. An attempt was made at Graceland, but upon realizing the BASIC tour was $28 per person, we decided to swallow the $10 we had already paid for parking and save our money for other things. I know it sounds criminal to not see Elvis's mansion while in Memphis. We just couldn't justify paying a total of $70 to go see a really big house, despite the room with the shag carpet ceiling. The weather was warm and spring had already made an appearance there. Trees and flowers were already blooming! We ate lots of really greasy delicious southern food including some pretty outstanding pork bb-q and the biggest onion rings I have ever seen. We got a really great deal on a hotel room that was way fancier than we expected. Sean started drooling when we walked in the room and he saw the 52 inch LCD tv. We had a lovely time and would recommend you visit the city if the chance presents itself. Enjoy the pics!
