Arnie's close call

What happened to our three blessings and a challenge project I started in Jan? I can ask the same question of myself. But in repentance, I am posting this as February make up.

The scariest event so far in 2012 happened on Monday, Feb13 when I had to take Arnie into the Vet after a terrible night of thirst, throwing up and bloody diarrhea that looked like someone sacrificed small animals in the upstairs bathroom and the dining room. I called the vet at 8 am. and had to wait until 10 to take Arnie in. I carried him.

Dr Pessin admitted him to the Fairview Vet Hospital. For two days Arnie was on strong antibiotic IV drip.
I couldn't really focus on anything much. The house was not the same without his greeting. Alex missed him so much too. Dr. Pessin was excellent in keeping me updated morning and night. Arnie was progressing and responding to the meds.

Valentines Day Ron gave me a new bead for my bracelet that had doggie footprints in heart shapes. I loved it and told him, he was brave to give it to me considering Arnie. But, he had bought it before Arnie got sick. Great news came on Wednesday morning when Dr. Pessin called to say "Arnie wants to come home". I could hear him barking in the background. Dr. Pessin told me when I went to the office that Arne had been a very sick little dog. He had worried that Arnie might die because he was so dehydrated and sick with a serious intestinal infection. Thanks to answers to our prayers the antibiotic worked.

It was a happy reunion between me and Arnie and then Arnie and Ron Wednesday evening. All day I said thank you prayers. The majority of the Cain Clan who are dog lovers can identify the blessings of your dog and the devastation of losing them. Three blessings plus more of Arnie are: He loves me unconditionally as my little white shadow who is always there for me, keeping watch. He is gentle and patient with my grandkids who are bigger than him and not always gentle. He is enthusiastic and friendls with guests. He is not destructive. He has taken over the job of Abbey in greeting Ron with a little barking fest each night. He fills the empty spaces in our house and hearts. I am thankful that Arnie came into our lives and that Heavenly Father agreed to letting him stay hopefully many years longer.
