Lauren the Gardener

We finally made our garden boxes today, and I thought we'd share some pictures. The only things not yet planted are the herbs, which will go in the funny pots with ears; the tomato plants, which haven't come from burpee yet; and the peppers, which like consistently warm weather, so they'll wait for a bit.

Here are the plants we've got. Blue bush beans, black bush beans, hot peppers, sweet peppers, lettuce, sweet peas, cucumbers, cilantro, basil, garlic chives, dill, parsley, oregano, and tomatoes (when they come in the mail).

Lauren is pretty excited, and we figure the boxes will last the 2 more years we'll be here. It is just pine with screen stapled in the bottom so that it can drain but not lose dirt. We borrowed a drill from a neighbor, and had the lumber cut at Lowes. It really only took about 2 hours to make, and some of that was rushing out to get dowling for one of the boxes. Planting was another 2 hours though, so we're a bit tired.
