More Adam

Adam is still growing. He looks basically the same as he did a month ago, just a little bigger & stronger. He's long, something over two feet, and relatively thin. He still gets wicked red eye, so bad that often you can see it in the sun with your naked eye - without a flash or picture. We call it his demon eyes. His 4 month appointment is April 1st, but he turns 4 months old tomorrow.

Adam stands confidently if you steady him by his thighs, midsection, or hold his hands. His weight isn't any trouble to him, but he's still working on balance. I like to steady his thighs because it forces him to balance his midsection. When home with him, I exercise him, which he enjoys and I think is funny. We do leg stretches, long periods of standing, and I'll put him on his stomach on the bed, then run back and forth across the room so he keeps his head up. Yesterday I put him on his playmat, looked away for maybe 10 minutes, then when I Iooked back, he had rolled around enough that he was 180 degrees from the way I laid him. A few minutes later, and he had rolled back. He can't get onto his stomach, or off it, but he can get onto his side pretty easily, then use his legs to pivot. He pays more attention to what you're doing now. When I play Wii, he often likes to sit on my lap. On my lap, his eyes are fixed on the TV, computer, book, or whatever I'm doing.

He can reliably catch dangling toys now. His bouncer seat has a lion with a ring hanging down, and when you pull the ring it plays a song - he's figured that out. He smiles a lot more, he laughs more easily, and now he talks an awful lot. He likes it if you repeat his sounds back to him, so we do a lot of that. He still loves to look in the mirror - so much so that I've started to call him narcissist baby. He's found his thumb and likes to put it in his mouth. Strangely, he mostly gums his thumb, rather than sucks on it. He drools like crazy; when I take care of him, I keep him in a bib all the time he's awake. He still needs to be fed about 11pm-12am, 3-4am, and 6-7am, but hopefully at his 4 month appointment the doctor will say we can use rice cereal. So he's becoming a bit more of a person and less of a puppy.

The weather turned nice, so we've been going on walks. I put him in a front-facing baby carrier, and we scramble around in the woods. I don't know how much he's really looking at, but I like to walk down by a little stream. On Thursday we saw about a dozen robins in the same place all taking a bath, which was fun. The stream also has a resident pair of ducks, so maybe we'll see ducklings later on. It is spring break, so on Wednesday Lauren, Adam, and I all drove to the other side of town and went on a nice long walk.

Adam plays with his friend Barec Hallows.

Adam grabs a monkey ring on his playmat which sings "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

For some reason, Lauren's favorite pictures inevitably involve a bath.

Great job Sean. Loved reading from a dad's point of view. I can tell you are enjoying your time with Adam. Many other dads would be jealous. Great pictures. The video made me laugh out loud. He is one cute, touch little kid. I can tell he really loves his dad and mommy.
Thanks for the memories.
