Amber and Carl
Amber and Carl's wedding was held in the Church gym in July. Mom and the family spent many hours decorating and setting up potted trees, plants and flowers. If the lights were dimmed just enough, it didn't look like a gym at all.
Friday night before the wedding we held the rehersal and afterward enjoyed a dinner at Chi Chi's provided by Carl's mom and dad. I remember I had trouble mastering the complicated step to be used when I brought Amber down the asile. Of course it didn't help when Amber had the Darth Vader march played during our walk at the rehersal.
Sure enough, at the wedding I got out of step with Amber and had to fake the step by just slowly walking in time with her measured pace. I'm sure no one noticed the unsynchronized movement of our legs.
I believe others have told about some of the big problems with the wedding (missing cameras and heat, etc.). We have a wedding vidio provided by Amber's friend, Mario. Due to the missing cameras, we all returned to church the next day for the formal pictures. That meant getting dressed again in tuxedos, wedding dresses and Carl in the Marine Dress uniform. The day after was every bit as warm as the wedding day.
My best memory is how beautiful Amber looked and how handsome Carl appeared. They made a lovely couple.
Natalie and Mike
Nat and Mike's wedding was a big deal, held at the country club where Mike worked. We had a rehersal the night before the wedding and a nice dinner at the club afterward. The club provided a tent, but Mom and the family supplied the decorations, potted trees and plants and flowers.
According to the rehersal, the wedding was to be on the patio next to the club house. The wedding party practiced entering from the side of the club house (out of site of the congregation). Nat and I practiced the complicated wedding step as I accompanied her to the pastor for the ceremony. The step was different than that used at Amber's wedding, but I was now an experienced wedding marcher. I was confident I wouldn't have problems with the step.
We arrived early for the wedding, and I took my place at the side of the club house. I don't remember what happened, but something got out of order. Before I realized it, Nat and I were told to march to the pastor. Sure enough, I got flustered and forgot the step. I tried in vain to get in step with Nat, but never managed it. We emerged from the side of the club house in front of the guests. I used my slow paced step that I had perfected at Amber's wedding to again fake my way to the pastor.
After the ceremony, all the guests moved to the tent and the fun began. I danced the first dance with Nat to one of my favorite Frank Sinatra songs "The Way You Look Tonight",
Nat certainly looked beautiful that night, and Mike looked distinguished and handsome, too. They made a lovely couple.
