Roses in Provo

I told Mom about a month ago that the roses in Provo are amazing. For some reason they just thrive out there, better than I've ever seen anywhere. There were bushes taller than me (ok for some real scale, there were bushes taller than Sean), and they had blossoms bigger than my fist (ok again, bigger than Sean's fist). Mom asked for some pictures, so Sean and I went exploring and took some pictures. All of these pictures were taken within two or three blocks of where we lived, so there are probably better ones elsewhere.

As a note, people aren't fanatical gardeners in Provo. The roses just grow magically! As long as they get watered, they really do grow to monstrous proportions. There is one picture that turned out too fuzzy to post, but it has a rose bush climbing over a fence and making an arch over a driveway--well over 10 feet.

I'll write about our move in another post.

Those are stunning flowers! Isn't there something in the scriptures about the roses blooming in the desert?

Amazing! Great photography too.
And just think, the rose is New York's state flower but it is not native to here. I think the English brought it over.

Great Grandma Franz, Grandma Kopshina's (my mom) loved roses. She had every possible kind planted around the fence that surrounded her fence in Baltimore Maryland. That is one thing about her that I remember the most. She would have been overwhelmed at these Roses.
